what a journey it has been...
As a teacher, I have a love for learning. That has been instilled in me since before I can remember. Learning has been an important of my life growing up and continues to be an important part of my life. I have to show my students daily that learning is important and valued in our community.
Looking back, I started my journey in this program as a reluctant student; I had to continue learning in a formal setting. I was not looking forward to being back in class. I put on a smile and started taking classes online. As I jumped into classes, I found myself enjoying my work and my learning and the way it has impacted my students in a positive way. My students see me learning and working on my work throughout the week and they look at me and say learning must be important, you still are learning!
Learning is only a part of education. Another part of education is the relationships that are built surrounding learning. I have been able to build relationships of respect that allow me to reach out for help from others in both an academic sense and in a real-world educational sense. I have been given colleagues through my classes to be the sounding boards that I’ve needed to be successful in my classes and learning. I have continued to build relationships with my fellow teachers and have been able to challenge them through the learning I’ve experienced through MSU’s online program. I would not have been successful at completing coursework if I had to commute to class and find time in my crazy schedule to sit in class each week and learn. The flexibility of learning online has allowed me to learn at the times of day that are best for me and allows me to complete work as needed and as it fits my schedule.
